Why aren’t more people freaking out about the new Venezuelan labor law?

dancepunksnotdead:

You know, the one that gives housewives/full-time mothers a pension— wages for housework?

It’s ONLY A HUGE VICTORY FOR FEMINISM, SOCIALISM, AND WOMEN OF COLOR. Not a big deal or anything. Tumblr is mysteriously silent about this.

And the tears come streaming down your face
When you lose something you can’t replace
When you love someone, but it goes to waste
Could it be worse?

The fact that Robert Downey Jr is threatening to leave Marvel unless Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett basically all his Marvel buddies get a pay raise really shows you that he is a great man, a human being, and never thinks of himself above others even if he jokes that he is above everyone else all the time.

Indigenous people of Brazil trying to prevent their eviction from an old indigenous museum which they have been living in for the past 7 years.

On March 22nd all of the inhabitants and their supporters were forcibly removed or arrested.

The building is being destroyed to make a parking lot :(

…for the Olympics

Seriously, why isn’t this all over my dash?

What?

Well, damn. Why does this stuff never get media attention? |:

This stuff doesn’t get media attention because the people getting hurt aren’t pasty white people from happy white people land.  This should be all over the news.  There should be outrage.  Brazil should be told by the Olympics, “Yeah, thanks but no t hanks!” over this as it is a human’s right violation.

But everyone will keep marching on because it’s not in America and it’s not a racism that’s fashionable to be upset about. :/

this is terrible

I will reblog this again because it was FAR WORST than it is written and pictured in this post.

IT WAS HORRIBLE. The fascism is never over. With the indigenous people that were arrested and suffered violence, there was PARLAMENTARIES, PUBLIC LAWERS and other representatives of the indigenous struggle.

Awake for 4 hours, and I’m already sick of hearing about Thatcher. Slate, Feministing and Jezebel have put up posts “celebrating” her. This was a woman who called feminism a poison, who did nothing to help support working mothers, whose policies crushed the working class, who supported apartheid, who despised homosexuality.
If one more person says we should show her some respect I am going to lose it. I don’t respect Sarah Palin just because she’s a woman, and if Thatcher were a politician today, the people saying we should respect her would be raging against her.
Someone doesn’t earn respect by dying. It’s not like she respected the dead. She was more than happy to cover up police responsibility in the 96 deaths at Hillsborough.
We can recognize that she accomplished a great feat by being a woman elected Prime Minister, without pretending that she was a great woman.
